HCOB 28 January 1960 The Key To All Cases – Responsibility
"Pcs in general pretend they would much rather be victims than
causative sources – which is what is wrong with their cases."
"A thetan accumulates mental mass, pictures, ridges, circuits,
etc., to the degree that he misassigns responsibility. If he does
something and then says that it was done by something or someone
else, then he has failed to assign cause rightly and, doing so, he
is of course left with an apparently uncaused mental mass. This to
us is the “bank.” As he is the only cause that could hang himself
with a mass, the only misassigned cause therefore is self cause.
Other people’s causation is not aberrative and does not hang up
except to the degree that the pc is provoked to misassigning cause.
Other people’s cause is therefore never audited.
Here then we have the anatomy of the reactive mind. The common
denominator of all these unwanted ridges, masses, pictures, engrams,
etc., is RESPONSIBILITY. "
"If all the factors involved in a case are well handled as given
herein, you will have a Theta Clear…"
"And if you handled a case totally with this material and its
specialized skills, then you would have an Operating Thetan."
HCOB 23 December 1959 Responsibility
"If the definition of operating thetan is knowing and willing
cause over all dynamics then we can see at once that responsibility
must go hand in hand with making an operating thetan."
HCOB 10 July 1964 Overts – Order Of Effectiveness In
Processing
"The realization that one has really done something
is a return of responsibility…"
"Overts give the highest gain in raising cause level because they
are the biggest reason why a person restrains himself and withholds
self from action."
HCOB 20 May 1968 Overt-Motivator Sequence
"The two types of engrams then are overt engrams and motivator
engrams.
Example of overt engram – shooting a dog.
Example of motivator engram – being bitten by a dog. "
"When you can’t run out (erase) a dog bite engram, why, then
you find the “shoot dog” engram."
LRH lecture 4 March 1952 HCL-3 The Axioms and How They Apply to
Auditing
"He intends to go out and see a movie and have fun; that's the
intention. He intends to go see a movie and not have fun; that's
intention.
This facsimile column is laid down but the evaluation is from the
intention side, the beingness side. And all intention is, is degree
of relative beingness which an individual desires to assume, as
plotted on the Tone Scale. [tapping on blackboard] "I'm going to be
dead" to "I'm going to be alive forever" is the intention span, but
it's an actual input into incidents and is what you commonly refer
to as "conclusions."
You say, "My conclusions regarding this and this and this." Well,
the conclusions are colors given to the facsimiles, and these
conclusions are twice as important as the facsimiles. Twice...
Impossible to give a numerical evaluation, but relatively maybe
thousands and thousands and thousands of times more important."
"What did he want to do with this facsimile, is more important
than the facsimile. That's why Postulate Processing came into
existence."
"But this is decision as to beingness, state of and condition
of."
LRH lecture – The Role of Earth
Dated Nov 1952 in R&D
Volumes and 30 Oct 52 priorly
"As far as a thetan being very badly implanted is concerned, how
can you implant an energy unit! That's an interesting question: How
can you implant an energy unit! It's a question in which you should
be awfully interested. Because you can't! You can give it some
ridges, but it can always move out from amongst these ridges.
You have to get it to agree and change its mind about something.
And once it's agreed on something of the sort, why then it's
possible for it to be in a state which keeps on holding on to
ridges."
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 HCL-21 Anatomy of the Theta Body
"And it actually can get down to a point where the composite you
– fortunately, very lightly so - can actually be influenced by
thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of theta lines
which you've picked up, but which aren't your theta lines. You're
just sort of holding them trapped."
HCOB 28 January 1960 The Key To All Cases – Responsibility
"Fortunately for this universe, no thetan will let himself go
free unless he can operate without danger to others and the
responsibility factor is way up on all dynamics."
Circuits = Entities
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 HCL - 22 How To Audit A Theta Line,
Part I
"The exploration of the theta lines has been underway for a very
long time. It has been underway, certainly, thousands of years and,
with myself, has been underway now, oh, better than fifteen years
intensively."
Note: this would put the date referenced by LRH (“better than
fifteen years intensively”) as being 1937 or even a bit earlier, say
1936. Excalibur was originally written in 1938.
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 HCL-21 Anatomy of the Theta Body
"Any one of them forms the foundation of what we called earlier
in Dianetics, "demon circuitry". "
"I have found this a very fascinating line of research. You might
realize that much of this research has been kept under a lid."
"I was actually into this line of research with both feet at the
time, but we had to build a bridge."
"Now, you know, in the old days I tried to keep people from
examining this. I might as well confess now. The demon circuits
themselves could be cleared by picking up incidents."
"And one of the things that one had to find out about them is,
are they all following the same rule of order? Do they all respond
to the same mechanics? Or are there such things as demons, idle
spirits, devils, any one of these things, or are they just
psychotics or what?
And it turns out after a great deal of research that they're just
normal or neurotic or psychotic, and so on, in their effects on a
preclear."
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 HCL-21 Anatomy Of The Theta Body
"Now, you can just throw away what you know about circuits,
because I'll show you what circuits are in a moment."
LRH lecture 3 March 1952 HCL-1 Scientology Milestone One
"In Book One we had what was known as demon circuits. Well, these
really are circuits, but they can be demonstrated to be - in an
uncleared, unadjusted situation - to be personalities, very distinct
personalities with distinct characteristics."
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 HCL-21 Anatomy of the Theta Body
"Now, get this about circuits: A circuit is quite real, but a
circuit happens to be a being - an entity, or an idle one,
mimicking."
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 How to Audit a Theta Line, Part II
"This is another manifestation of which theta lines are
completely capable - of stepping into other people. And they do.
They just simply step into somebody else.
If a theta body, a theta line, is very mixed up and can't get
control of the person in any other way, it will step into person B
and activate some theta line in person B so as to do something to
person A. You get that?"
"Because theta bodies are just people and they will start fights
and they will argue, but sometimes they go about it circuitously.
You find a mention of this in the first book, by the way."
Summary of Key Concepts
Ron once said – you are totally responsible for the condition
you are in.
He also said basically that you are a giant who tied yourself
down with cotton lint, you supplied the string, you tied the knots
and you said where you would lay.
Understanding the above two statements is an important part of
auditor beingness.
First, let’s have a look at this as applicable to the main
Being.
In the first quote referenced above LRH had said:
"A thetan accumulates mental mass, pictures, ridges, circuits,
etc., to the degree that he misassigns responsibility."
Now that you know what a circuit really is, in other words it’s a
Being, an entity or an idle one, mimicking; as the main Being you
should take a look at that quote again in a new unit of time.
"A thetan accumulates mental mass, pictures, ridges, circuits,
etc., to the degree that he misassigns responsibility."
It should now be understood, that you have a responsibility in
the accumulation of circuits (entities).
Let’s take a look at something else quoted from the same bulletin
above:
"If all the factors involved in a case are well handled as given
herein, you will have a Theta Clear…"
"And if you handled a case totally with this material and its
specialized skills, then you would have an Operating Thetan."
See how important your responsibility in all this is?
It’s going to determine your return to OT, and handling
your accumulation of entities is a large step on that road.
As the main Being, and the auditor of the entities, you also need
to be able to apply the data on responsibility, to the Beings in the
composite case:
"As he is the only cause that could hang himself with a mass, the
only misassigned cause therefore is self cause."
The auditor knows the preclear has caused the condition he now
finds himself in. The Excalibur auditor does not think that either
himself, or the Beings in the composite case are a victim. Even
implants depend upon the agreement of the thetan before they can
have any effect on him.
Knowing that the preclear has caused his own state, the auditor
processes him in the direction of having the preclear discover this
fact for himself.
