Allegations and the true data

Allegation: Management is bad, not to be trusted

True Data: LRH expressed his trust in the present management, after similar allegations were made in the early eighties. In LRH ED 352 Int, dated November 17, 1983 and titled "Today and Tomorrow", he wrote, "To begin with work-a-day matters, I recently reviewed the state of present S Scientology management and was close to ecstatic with what I found." And in a declaration he submitted to a court, on every page of which he placed a fingerprint sample, he expressed his confidence in the Church and indicated that he had handed his trademarks over to RTC.

It is a common claim on the Free Zone that there is something wrong with Church management and that it has diverged from what LRH taught. Well, the ultimate test of any management is whether it has resulted in expansion.

In this discussion of whether management is good or had, there is a tremendous amount of opinion. LRH wrote in the management policies that you cannot measure an individual or a group on opinion, you have to examine their statistics and products. And that's the only thing that shows it. (See HCO PL July 7, 1970 "Working and Managing.")

So this is what I did. And I came up with some facts that may surprise you. They surprised me. They show that the Church's management since the early 1980s has done a tremendous amount to expand Scientology, and this can be shown by statistics.

Here they are:

Dianetics and Scientology are now available in 129 countries, compared with only 52 in 1980.

There are now more than 3,100 orgs, missions and groups, compared with only 700 in 1980.

The number of people who take part in a Scientology service for the first time was more than 600,000 in 1997, compared with 151,000 in 1980.

Sales of DMSMH totaled 7,140,000 in 1985 and are now (May 19999) at well over 18.000.000. DMSMH is now (May 1999) available in more than 50 languages and distributed in 129 countries. And don't forget, in March 1988, Dianetics again reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and stayed on the list for 27 weeks. That was quite an achievement.

There were only 38 community and social reform groups started by the Church in 1980. Now there are more than 450 (this includes Narconon, Criminon, etc.).

The Freewinds was bought, fully renovated and launched. it recently received a complete refit.

The Internet sites were erected. They contain about 37,000 pages of text and have had more than 42,000,000 hits.

There has also been a tremendous improvement in the MEST of many orgs. Extensive renovations were done at CC Int, ASHO and AOLA, LA Day, the Church's international management building, FCDC, Flag (which now has many beautiful new buildings as well), AOSH UK, AOSH ANZO, AOSH EU and the org in Paris. These orgs are now upstat and aesthetic places.

The "preservation of the tech" project, in my view, shows more than anything how seriously management takes LRH's tech. The idea is to guarantee that the tech is around for the millennia. The HCOPLs and HCOBs as well as the books are now written on 95 tons of archival paper which is supposed to last for centuries. They are also engraved in 885 metal books. These consist of 165,000 stainless steel plates and they weigh in total more than 50 tons. There are now 1500 of LRH's lectures which have been recorded on solid nickel records, with a total weight of 13 tons. They had to develop a special playback system which runs on solar energy to play these records, and it is supposed to operate for a thousand years without any components wearing out. And all this is preserved in titanium "time capsules" strong enough to survive nuclear blasts.

There was never the full set of LRH's policies beforehand. Now these are available in the 10 volumes of the OEC and the Management Series, all beautifully indexed. In the course of the compilation, LRH policies that had never been published were added.

The complete tech volumes have been made available in 18 books. These books are thicker and fuller than the tech volumes we had before and make far more tech available that we ever had. Also with detailed indexes.

Then there are the tapes. Since the early 1980s, a total of 1,361 LRH lectures have been published and made available. This took a lot of doing, as the tapes of lectures from the early 1950s were literally decomposing and flaking away. Every component used to restore the lectures had to be developed and hand-built, or at least modified, so that the job could be done.

And what about non-English speaking areas? Over the past decade, more than 2.8 million pages of translations of LRH's tech have been published. LRH's writings and public lectures are now produced in 26 languages. There are 687 translated lectures now on cassette. Back in the early 1980s, there were none on cassette.

You probably know that LRH wrote dozens of training films. Some of these had been produced by the early 80s, but most had not. Thirty of them have now been produced, translated and distributed.

The quality of the facilities used to produce these films has been vastly improved. There are state-of-the-art film and recording studios at Golden Era Productions. A sophisticated tape production facility has been established.

In order to tell more non-Scientologists about Scientology and to help Scientologists tell others, What Is Scientology? was rewritten and redesigned, as well as the The Scientology Handbook. These were translated into the major languages.

LRH has had 11 books on bestseller lists during this period. The Road to Freedom album was produced and sold more than 450,000 copies.

The Church has done public information campaigns in major media, including USA Today and International Herald Tribune.

There are six major international events each year to brief Scientologists. The Golden Age of Tech was released. As I mention elsewhere, this is based on the LRH lecture "A Talk on a Basic Qual" and other references. There are 4,000 pages of training drills, each translated into 11 languages. The Mark VII and Quantum E-meters were developed, according to specifications and directions that had been laid down by LRH.

The L. Ron Hubbard Life Exhibition was opened.

The Los Angeles City Council renamed a street L. Ron Hubbard Way. (Can you imagine that happening in 1980?) And let's not forget that in 1993 the Church gained full tax exemption in the States, which meant that Scientologists weren't getting harassed and audited by the IRS and that they and the Church could concentrate on what it is supposed to be doing - delivering auditing and training. These are only a few items I was able to cull at random, but they make an impressive list of accomplishments for any management to boast of. By comparison, none of the squirrel groups have even lasted. So if you want LRH tech to continue to be available on this planet, who would you support - the Free Zone or the Church?

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. Excerpt from LRH declaration to probate court expressing his confidence in RTC (written when an attempt was made to seize LRH's estate. The court ruled in LRH's favor).
  2. Ron's Journal 38.(Excerpt)

Allegation: Bill Robertson was abused by the Church. His "Galactic Patrol" was formed in alignment with LRH's intentions and was to save Scientology from management.

True Data: Bill Robertson was just another squirrel. The truth about Bill Robertson you can read here:

  1. The Truth about Bill Robertson
  2. See also HCO Exec Letter 27 Sep 1965 Amprinistics

Allegation: Robin Scott is a Scientologist.

True Data: Robin Scott claimed in a court case that he was a minister of the Church of Scientology. Nothing can be further from the truth. Scott was expelled from the Church long before a Danish court condemned him for theft of Church materials.

Furthermore, Scientologists are well known for leading drug free lives, something that Scott does not abide by as shown by the fact that he was recently condemned by a British court to four years imprisonment for growing cannabis.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. Sentencing of Robin Scott by a Danish Court
  2. Article from the Daily Telegraph dated December 14, 1996

Allegation: It is contrary to LRH's intentions for RTC to have the monopoly of the tech, as he would never have wanted the tech to be in the hands of one organization only.

True Data: RTC exists to protect the technology and keep it pure. LRH made it very clear in policy letters that the tech was owned in a legal sense by the Church and that it was the responsibility of the Church to enforce this ownership. He also made it clear several times that he had handed ownership of his trademarks over to RTC, in which he had complete trust.

As far as the OT levels are concerned, there are strict eligibility requirements for beginning them.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. See HCO PL 15 Nov 1958 The Substance and First Duty of HCO
  2. See HCO PL 22 Nov 1958 Owner of Materials, The Legal View
  3. HCO PL 9 March 1982 RB, Eligibility of OT Levels
  4. LRH Declaration (excerpt)
  5. Ron's Journal 38 (excerpt)
  6. See also LRH ED 354 INT "Winning"

Allegation: LRH did not really hand over to RTC

True Data: LRH's transfer of the trademarks and copyrights to RTC is well documented, and is confirmed by documents written by him with his own fingerprint marks on them, as well as by a taped message to Scientologists called RJ 38.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. LRH declaration (excerpt)
  2. Declaration of Peter Ladefoged (this responds to that the voice on tapes after 1981/82 is not that of LRH.)
  3. Sentencing of a squirrel who stole upper level matetrials (which subsequently were posted on the Internet leading to litigation by RTC which resulted in injunctions)
  4. Jon Zegel tape transcript May 20, 1998 (excerpt)

Allegation: The Church is not religious enough. Or it claims to be a religion and is not really.

True Data: LRH laid out in numerous writings that Scientology is a religion and why.

Scholars in the field of religion have placed Scientology in a religious tradition.

In Germany, the highest court that has looked at whether Scientology is a religion, ruled that even if an idealistic association is engaged in "commercial-like" practices, that did not make it a business. More than 35 German courts and 100 courts internationally have found that Scientology is a religion.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. See Professional Auditor's Bulletin 32, Why Doctor of Divinity
  2. Bryan Wilson expertise on Scientology (excerpt)
  3. Memo of German court rulings.
  4. Press release from Federal Administrative Supreme Court

Allegation: The Golden Age of tech is not LRH and neither are the Golden Age of Tech Drills.

True Data: The Golden Age of Tech drills were compiled according to LRH advices on the importance of drilling. They refer only to LRH references.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. LRH Lecture of 5 Sept 1971 A Talk on a Basic Qual (excerpt)
  2. Golden Age of Tech success stories

Allegation: Services are too expensive

True Data: The money that is donated to services goes towards the religious and social reform programs of the Church. Even the U.S. government admitted that when they found Scientology tax-exempt.

It also costs money to fight for religious freedom in Germany in the courts, as we are having to do.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. See "What your donations buy" by LRH
  2. Declaration of Frank Flinn
  3. See HCO PL 23 May 1965 Rebates

Allegation: Sea Org members are abused on the RPF

True Data: The Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF) is a rehabilitation program offered only to members of the Sea Organization. It is voluntary and provides an individual with an opportunity to progress spiritually and remedy past shortcomings.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. Description of the RPF and comparison to other religions
  2. Declaration of Frank Flinn
  3. Declarations of RPF graduates

Allegation: There is too much entheta on the Internet

True Data: In the last few years, the Church has obtained several injunctions against copyright infringers on the Internet and established real ethics presence. The entheta does not reflect the respect in which the Church is held by the real movers and shakers on the Internet.

The Church just released a program what will assist every Scientologist in the world to build his own website and provide accurate data on Scientology, in addition to the Church's own sites which are among the largest on the Net.

Here are some documents which show this:

  1. Injunctions against copyright infringers
  2. Article on the Internet showing validation of the Church's actions

Allegation: Mr. David Miscavige wrote a project entitled "Smash Squirrels"

True Data: The so-called "Smash Squirrels" project was a forgery and was found so in court.

Here is a document which show this:

  1. U.S. District Court order

Allegation: LRH did not die in 1986. The real reasons of LRH's death were covered up. The whole probate case is being opened up again.

True Data: LRH employed a number of ranch hands on his staff, none of whom were Scientologists. They saw him regularly until approximately a week before his death. They describe in declarations that he was in very good physical and mental health, always neatly dressed and in good comm.

The attempt to reopen the probate case was thrown out of court in 15 minutes and the attorney warned he would be sanctioned if he tried bringing such a frivolous motion again.

  1. Newspaper article describing how fingerprint samples were taken of LRH's body to show that it was indeed him.

Allegation: Fair game is practiced by the Church of Scientology.

True Data: A former Church executive admitted that this is a complete lie.

Here is the document which shows this:

  1. Affidavit of former Church executive
  2. Excerpt on fair game from Media Reference booklet

Allegation: Andre and Mary Tabayoyon were mistreated in the Sea Org.

True Data: The Tabayoyon's own son totally discredited his parents' allegations with the truth.

Here are some documents which shows this:

  1. Affidavit of Casavius Tabayoyon
  2. Affidavit of Andre about his life on the Sea Org vessel "Apollo."
  3. Letter from the attorneys Lewis, D'Amato, Brisbois & Bisgaard (confirming that the Tabayoyon declaration, which made the allegation will no longer be used).
